Most of the stories are cute but they can be long winded and are sprinkled with old, obsolete words。 I find myself changing the words slightly when reading to my kids。 The tale of Mrs。 Twiggy-Winkle is my favorite。

Read through this entire series with my four year old daughter。 She loved them。 So did I。 They are not all great but all are imaginative。 It is always charming seeing animals acting like humans yet having animal problems。 The relationships between humans and sentient animals is sometimes quite strange。 The domesticated animals know they are going to be eaten, or a least some of them will be, yet they don't always seem frightened by this prospect。 Read through this entire series with my four year old daughter。 She loved them。 So did I。 They are not all great but all are imaginative。 It is always charming seeing animals acting like humans yet having animal problems。 The relationships between humans and sentient animals is sometimes quite strange。 The domesticated animals know they are going to be eaten, or a least some of them will be, yet they don't always seem frightened by this prospect。 。。。more

Having nothing to do with the TV series, this set of books was well received and truly enjoyed by my 4 yo daughter。 Being both funny and adventurous each book focuses on a set of characters。 Our favourite is 'a tale about a tail' 。。。 The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin。 Having nothing to do with the TV series, this set of books was well received and truly enjoyed by my 4 yo daughter。 Being both funny and adventurous each book focuses on a set of characters。 Our favourite is 'a tale about a tail' 。。。 The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin。 。。。more

I hadn't read these wonderful little books as a child so it was lovely to read them recently with my six year old son。 I love how old fashioned they are and the beautiful illustrations。 My favourite tales are The Tailor of Gloucester, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Two Bad Mice and The Tale of Tom Kitten。 I love that Beatrix found inspiration from the landscape and her animals to write and beautifully illustrate her stories。 I hadn't read these wonderful little books as a child so it was lovely to read them recently with my six year old son。 I love how old fashioned they are and the beautiful illustrations。 My favourite tales are The Tailor of Gloucester, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Two Bad Mice and The Tale of Tom Kitten。 I love that Beatrix found inspiration from the landscape and her animals to write and beautifully illustrate her stories。 。。。more

I remember reading many of these from when I was a child。 It was a nice walk through memory lane reading this to my infant son。 He's a little too young for the stories, but he likes being read to and seems to enjoy looking at some of the pictures。 He may appreciate it more when he's a little older。The only negative aspect to these well-known stories is that they have aged poorly。 So many years have passed since these were written, that it sometimes felt like I was reading a foreign language beca I remember reading many of these from when I was a child。 It was a nice walk through memory lane reading this to my infant son。 He's a little too young for the stories, but he likes being read to and seems to enjoy looking at some of the pictures。 He may appreciate it more when he's a little older。The only negative aspect to these well-known stories is that they have aged poorly。 So many years have passed since these were written, that it sometimes felt like I was reading a foreign language because I had no idea what objects she was talking about。 I ended up having to look up some of them, and they truly were things that haven't been in use for so many years。 It made for an interesting learning experience though, so perhaps that should be looked at as a positive rather than a negative。 。。。more

In my opinion, Beatrix Potter is the greatest children's author and illustrator who ever lived。 Her words are charming。 Her illustrations are gorgeous。 The nostalgic, feel-good sensations I get when reading her stories are incredible。 The Tales of Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Benjamin Bunny, Mr。 Jeremy Fisher, Miss Moppet, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-Duck, and more are classics to be cherished。 I am in the middle of a binge-watch of "Orange Is the New Black", and when the prison's library books In my opinion, Beatrix Potter is the greatest children's author and illustrator who ever lived。 Her words are charming。 Her illustrations are gorgeous。 The nostalgic, feel-good sensations I get when reading her stories are incredible。 The Tales of Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Benjamin Bunny, Mr。 Jeremy Fisher, Miss Moppet, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-Duck, and more are classics to be cherished。 I am in the middle of a binge-watch of "Orange Is the New Black", and when the prison's library books are burned, inmates hold a eulogy for the books they felt deserved to be honored。 Poussey sadly champions "The Tale of Squirrel Nutkins [sic']"。 She is very right。 。。。more

Re-reading for the first time in well over ten years! I actually think my copy was a present for my brother but somehow I ended up with it and - along with Winnie the Pooh - the stories are the first things I remember being able to read myself。 I’m surprised by how much I remember while I’m reading them again。 ⭐️ = FavouritesPeter Rabbit ⭐️Squirrel Nutkin Tailor of Gloucester ⭐️Benjamin Bunny ⭐️Two Bad Mice ⭐️Mrs Tiggy-Winkle Mr。 Jeremy FisherTom Kitten Jemima Puddle-DuckFlopsy Bunnies ⭐️Mrs。 Ti Re-reading for the first time in well over ten years! The illustrations。 The tales。 Revisiting these characters has been a blast。 Though, Squirrel Nutkin was waaaayyyy more of an arsehole than I remembered。

It's worth reading this whole series of books by Beatrix Potter。 Nothing surpasses the first, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, but there is an interesting diversity of length and mood。 The first stories are about 60 pages, half pictures, half brief text。 The longest is 112 pages with just a few colour plates and some small black and white drawings。 So, quite a hefty read, relatively。 A treat to read。 It's worth reading this whole series of books by Beatrix Potter。 Nothing surpasses the first, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, but there is an interesting diversity of length and mood。 The first stories are about 60 pages, half pictures, half brief text。 The longest is 112 pages with just a few colour plates and some small black and white drawings。 So, quite a hefty read, relatively。 A treat to read。 。。。more

I really loved the illustrations。 I had only read Tale of Peter Rabbit before this, so I was not prepared for how real the situations got for the animals! Amazing。 Loved the end of Little Pig Robinson and how there was a little side romance plot going on in there。

I bought this set of Beatrix Potter books years ago after reading a review about her as an author and an artist。 There was something about what I read about her doing all of her own illustrations as well as writing that ignited something in me。 It actually led to an epiphany that brought out my own abilities as an artist and painter。 I wanted to have the set of books to look at, read, and touch because of whatever that spark of knowledge was that the story of Ms。 Potter created within me。

My children and I spent countless hours reading the stories of Jemima Puddleduck, Squirrel Nutkins, Peter Rabbit, and all the wonderful little characters Beatrix Potter created。 They were all in French, but the language was still, to me, just as personal and endearing。 I've since lost those books, as I have all my children's book due to a sudden move and then a flood。 That's the wonderful thing about books。 You don't have to own them in order for them to be a part of you。 My children and I spent countless hours reading the stories of Jemima Puddleduck, Squirrel Nutkins, Peter Rabbit, and all the wonderful little characters Beatrix Potter created。 They were all in French, but the language was still, to me, just as personal and endearing。 I've since lost those books, as I have all my children's book due to a sudden move and then a flood。 That's the wonderful thing about books。 You don't have to own them in order for them to be a part of you。 。。。more

I got this set as a gift when I was seven from my mom's coworker。 I can't tell you how many times I've read and re-read each book (A LOT)。 This is priceless。 The stories and illustrations are absolutely wonderful。 I'm definitely getting this for my kids。 (I'd give them my set, but my brother stole it to give to his son。。。which is okay by me。) I got this set as a gift when I was seven from my mom's coworker。 I can't tell you how many times I've read and re-read each book (A LOT)。 This is priceless。 The stories and illustrations are absolutely wonderful。 I'm definitely getting this for my kids。 (I'd give them my set, but my brother stole it to give to his son。。。which is okay by me。) 。。。more
